The man accused of killing and dismembering his 7-year-old special needs son two years ago has been declared competent by state doctors.

Jeremiah Wright will return to a Lafourche Parish courtroom later this month when the First-Degree Murder case against him will move forward.

Wright is accused of murdering Jori Lirette in august of 2011. He cut off the boy's head and placed it in the yard of the house. Other remains were found in trash bags.

While state doctors have declared him competent, defense attorneys are questioning the findings.
