Wood County man gets life sentence for sexual indecency with a child

WOOD COUNTY, TX — A Hawkins man was sentenced to life behind bars on Wednesday for sexual contact with a child.
On May 2, 2012, following a jury trial in the 402nd Judicial District Court of Wood County, Texas, a jury of 9 men and 3 women found Perry Wayne Jerden, 44, of Hawkins, Texas, guilty of sexual indecency with a child, which is a felony offense.
Perry Wayne Jerden, a habitual offender, having been confined in the State penitentiary on three prior occasions for different felony charges, was sentenced by the jury to punishment of a Life sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
The prosecution was led by Jim Wheeler, Criminal District Attorney with Assistant District Attorney Angela Converse assisting.
Judge G. Timothy Boswell presided.
