Woman gets away from boyfriend who stabbed her

HOUMA, LA (NBC33) — A woman is recovering in the hospital after suffering serious injuries during a fight with her boyfriend.
The Houma Police Department reports that the incident happened on Monday, June 4 just before 1:30 a.m. Officers were called to the scene of a Burger King on Grand Calliou Road in regards to a victim who had been stabbed.
Officials say the woman was in a vehicle with her boyfriend Nolan Sims Jr., 38, when the argument began. Sims was allegedly driving the car when he lost control and crashed into the side wall of the Advanced Auto Parts. That’s when the woman jumped out of the vehicle and began running towards the Burger King.
Sims allegedly chased his girlfriend. Witnesses say he fell against the curb during the chase and sustained a severe injury to his head.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with stab wounds to her chest, lacerations on her left leg, bite marks to her left arm and wounds on both hands.
Sims was also transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for his injury. He will alter be transported to a medical center in New Orleans. Warrants will be obtained for Nolan Sims Jr. for charges relative to one count Attempted Second Degree Murder.
