Woman arrested for child endangerment while being processed for a DWI offense
EUNICE, LA (NBC33) — A woman was arrested for child desertion after she was charged with DWI. That's because officers learned that she had left her children home alone.
The Eunice Police Department arrested Amanda Faulkner on Thursday, May 3 at roughly 2:30 a.m. after she failed a field sobriety test during a traffic stop. Her blood alcohol level was tested at the Eunice Police Department and registered at .157 percent.
After Faulkner was booked on charges of Careless Operation, Disturbing the Peace, and DWI first offense, she called her husband, who was at work, to let him know that the children were home alone. An officer overheard the conversation and confronted her about the situation.
An officer was sent over to the home to check on the children. When the officer arrived to the home the door was found unlocked. Inside the home were two boys, ages 1 and 7, sleeping.
Juvenile Division Detectives, as well as La. Child Protective Services, were called out to investigate.
Faulkner was then booked on two counts of Child Endangerment.
Faulkner is currently being held in the Eunice City Jail on a bond of $7381.
