Woman arrested for bringing contraband into correctional center

On Saturday, November 9, 2013 at approximately 9:55 a.m. Demita Kneeland, 27, Lake Charles, along with a male juvenile, were attending Inmate Visitation at the St Martin Parish Correctional Center. During the course of the visitation, it was discovered that Ms. Kneeland attempted to conceal synthetic cannabinoids in a greeting card. Upon closer inspection of the item by the shift supervisor, it was discovered that the greeting card concealed a green leafy substance consistent with the appearance and odor of Synthetic Marijuana.

Following the discovery of the contraband, Ms. Kneeland was escorted to the Booking Room of the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center where she was booked on the following charges: Introduction of Contraband to a Penal Institution; Possession of Synthetic Cannabinoids; Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile.
