Lafayette, La (NBC33) — Suspect Arrested in Computer-aided Solicitation Case

On June 7, the Lafayette Police Department’s Cyber Crimes Unit conducted operations in an effort to find criminals attempting to coerce minors in a lewd manner while in a “chat” room.



Wesley Deshotel III, 28, engaged in sexually explicit conversation with detectives pretending to be a 14 year-old girl; they agreed to meet and have sexual relations at her residence.

On June 8, the suspect arrived at the predetermined residence in the City of Lafayette. Police immediately arrested Deshotel without incident.

He has been charged with Computer-aided Solicitation of a Minor and Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile.
