An accused murderer from Lake Charles has been on the run since 2008. He remains on the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted List and a reward for $100,000 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.

Jose Manuel Garcia Guevara is accused of killing a 26-year-old woman in the presence of her 4-year-old stepson. Detectives believe he broke into the woman’s home, raped her, then stabbed her to death.

Guevara is described as a White (Hispanic) male, approximately 5'6" to 5'8" tall and weighing 160 to 180 pounds. He has black or dark brown hair and black eyes. He has a tattoo of the letter "J" on his shoulder.

Officials believe Guevara may be hiding in Mexico, but could be in the United States under false documentation.

Warrants for his arrest were issued by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office on April 17, 2008 for Second-Degree Murder, Aggravated Rape and Aggravated Burglary. A federal arrest warrant was additionally issued on October 1, 2009 by the United States District Court, Western District of Louisiana, after he was federally charged with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution.

If you know anything regarding his whereabouts, call the Lake Charles Office of the FBI at (337) 433-6353, or your nearest law enforcement agency.
