UPDATE: Lafayette Police have issued an arrest warrant for Frances Mary Watson, 49, of Austin, Texas, for Armed Robbery. Watson is believed to be the woman who committed the armed robbery at the Iberia Bank.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Watson is asked to call the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS.

ORIGINAL STORY: On Saturday, April 21, at approximately 11:55 a.m., Lafayette Police responded to the Iberia Bank at 4010 West Congress Street regarding a bank robbery.

According to detectives, the female suspect entered the bank and approached the clerk. Once at the counter, the suspect displayed a knife and demanded the cash. The clerk turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect and the suspect exited the bank.

The suspect was observed by witnesses driving away from the bank in a dark colored vehicle, possibly an 80’s model Buick. The suspect is described as a female with olive skin in her 40’s wearing blue jeans and a plaid shirt.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS.
