BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — UPDATE: The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the victim Quention Pollard, 23, died today as a result of injuries sustained during a shooting on North Donmoor. They are still seeking the suspects in this case.
UPDATE: The 22-year old victim in this shooting remains in extremely critical condition.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident apparently began when two local shopkeepers, ages 27 and 21, saw a man whom they believed had previously committed a theft from their store standing in the 1000 block of N. Donmoor with several other men.
A discussion apparently took place, after which the two store owners got into their car to leave.
They claim as they were leaving they were fired upon by someone in the group and they returned fire. As a result, the 22-year old victim, who was not the man they originally confronted, was struck in the head.
It is unknown at this time whether he was hit by gunfire from the store owners or from another as-yet unidentified party.
The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Division at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP (7867).
