UPDATE: Two arrested in shooting death at apartment complex on Sherwood Forest

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — UPDATE: East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Detectives arrested a man and a juvenile today for a shooting that occurred last night at approximately 8:55 at the Castlebrook Apartments.
Joshua Birchfield, 28, is charged with First Degree Murder.
Andre Steward, 17, is charged with Principal to First Degree Murder. The accused juvenile was also found to have active warrants for Simple Burglary and Unarthorized Use of a Movable.
According to reports, Birchfield shot Rashawn Washington, 18, during an altercation that occurred while Birchfield was attempting to buy Codeine Syrup from Washington and Steward.
Birchfield told detectives he shot Washington after Washington allegedly attempted to rob him.
UPDATE: The victim was identified as Rashawn Washington, 18, of Baton Rouge. This case is still under investigation.
ORIGINAL STORY: The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting death of a man on Sherwood Forest Blvd.
Officials tell us the incident happened shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 27. We’re told the shooting happened at the Castlebrook Apartments.
Investigators are currently working the scene and more information will be provided once it is available.
