UPDATE: Teen arrested for shooting of runaway teen

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — UPDATE: A 16-year old male was arrested late last evening in connection with the shooting below. The suspect was arrested at a group home in Baker and placed into the Juvenile Detention Center, charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder.
ORIGINAL STORY: A 16-year-old runaway was shot in the neck last night, Sunday, May 20. She’s currently recovering in a local hospital.
Detectives with the Baton Rouge Police Department were called to the scene in the 3700 block of Topeka Street shortly after midnight. The young girl was found shot in the neck.
We’re told the girl was involved in an argument with a man whom she had been seen walking around with. The man is described as a black male in his mid-late teens. He was riding a bicycle.
The teen girl is a runaway from a state group home, who has been missing since February 2012.
The girl was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
