ORIGINAL STORY: The Baton Rouge Police Department is currently investigating the suspicious death of a 47-year-old Baton Rouge man.

Col. Tommy Stubbs with BRPD tells NBC33 News that the investigation began on Friday, April 27. That’s when an officer patrolling in the District 1-area noticed the injured man.

“The officer came across the man who was standing in the roadway,” Stubbs explained. “He claimed he was injured during an altercation. That’s when EMS was called and he was picked up.”

The officer noted that the man didn’t appear to be suffering from life threatening injuries. However, police were notified on Sunday, April 29 that the man had passed away.

The official cause of death has not been concluded. An autopsy is currently being performed to determine a future course of action in the case.
