Update: Suspected shooter not in Dalton Street home

THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: The Baton Rouge Police Department has confirmed that Derrick Williams, 33, of Beechwood Drive was shot and killed this morning in the front yard of 3960 Dalton Street. Williams was shot in the chest multiples and transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Police are still looking for the shooter, and the reason behind it. If you have any information in this crime, call CrimeStoppers at 344-STOP.

THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: Police went into the home shortly after noon. The suspected shooter was not inside.  

ORIGINAL STORY: The Baton Rouge Police Department has the 3900 block of Dalton Street blocked off due to a shooting that happened around 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28.

Officials tell us that they are looking for a man they believe to be responsible for the shooting. We’re told the victim was found outside of a home on Dalton Street, but were unable to comment on the victim’s condition.

NBC33’s Kelsey Scram is out at the scene and says roughly a dozen police cars and at least two SWAT vehicles are on scene.

Right now the entire area is blocked off as a precaution while investigators attempt to coax the suspected gunman out of the home.
