UPDATE: The second suspect involved in a robbery attempt turned deadly was arrested during the evening on Thursday, April 19.

ORIGINAL STORY: A 23-year-old man is on life support for organ donation after he allegedly attempted to rob a man on Choctaw.

The Baton Rouge Police Department says the incident happened shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 29. We’re told Kelvin Armstead got into the car of the victim. He then began talking to the man while his alleged accomplice came around to the other side of the vehicle and pointed a gun at the driver.

We’re told the victim put the car into reverse when the gun was pulled on him and sped in to oncoming traffic. Armstead was still in the vehicle when it crashed into two other vehicles.

Armstead was ejected from the passenger side of the car. He was transported to a local hospital where he is being artificially kept alive on life support.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the crash, nor were those in the other two vehicles.

The second suspect who pulled the gun on the victim fled from the scene and remains at large.
