Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — UPDATE: Jury selection continued today in the trial of Baton Rouge rapper Lil’ Boosie.
The jury will remain anonymous.
Each of the jurors will only be identified by a designated number.
The trial is expected to start within the next few days and last a couple of weeks.
ORIGINAL STORY: A jury pool of around 150 people spent the day filling out questionnaires across the street from the 19th Judicial Courthouse at the River Center library for a trial that's expected to last a couple of weeks.
One of the Boosie's attorneys, Martin Regan, said he believes that if the rapper, whose real name is Torence Hatch, gets a fair and impartial jury, he'll be found innocent of ordering the murder of Terry Boyd back in 2009.
Security for this high-profile trial has been tight. Part of the street outside the 19th Judicial Courthouse was blocked off. Also, officers from both the Baton Rouge Police Department and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's office were outside the courthouse for most of the morning. Additionally, District Attorney Hillar Moore had to be escorted from the courthouse and back to his office this afternoon by two BRPD officers.
NBC33's Brix Fowler will have the full story on NBC33 News at 10.
