Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: The judge has denied the change of venue request in the case against accused murder, Trucko Stampley. The case will continue in the Baton Rouge courtroom.
THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: Judge Bonnie Jackson says she'll rule on a change of venue request Thursday morning. The defense is trying to get the trial moved because they say the case has gotten too much attention in the newspaper and on television.
The defense says all the publicity is making it difficult to find an impartial jury. Jury selection in the trial is expected to continue through Saturday.
ORIGINAL STORY: Jury selection has begun in the trial of accused murderer Trucko Stampley.
Stampley has been found competent to stand trial.
Stampley is being charged with four counts of first degree murder.
He's accused of killing Marie and Denise Pedescleaux, as well as Charles and Ann Colvin back in April 2007. He faces life in prison.
The trial is expected to last into next week
