UPDATE: Estranged husband arrested for double homicide

UPDATE: The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office reports that the suspect in this case was apprehended by the Slaughter Police Department at roughly 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 26.

The suspect, Alfred Scales, 48, is the estranged husband of victim Jamie Davenport.

We're told that Scales was picked up at a store on Hwy 19 and LA 10 after a tip came in from a concerned citizen. Scales is being transported back to Baton Rouge where he will be booked into Parish Prison.


ORIGINAL STORY: A spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office says Jamie Davenport, 33, and James Ledell Brown, 44, were both found dead in front of the resident on Thomas Road in Baton Rouge. 

The double shooting happened just after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 25. The shooting happened on the 5300 block of Thomas Road.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's deputies are working to identify a suspect at this time.
