UPDATE: BRPD arrests 2 owners of smoke shops

UPDATE 3-25-14: Demond Eames, 40, of Prairieville, and Bruce Moore, 47, of Baton Rouge, were arrested on Tuesday and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I narcotics.

Eames and Moore are the owners of Fun Smoke Shop, on Plank Rd and Fun Time Novelties Smoke Shop, on Hewwood Ave.

Both were booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

PREVIOUS 3-21-14: Friday, the Baton Rouge Police Department Narcotics Division conducted two search warrants relative to the sale of Synthetic Marijuana which resulted in six arrests, along with the seizure of narcotics and currency.

The first search warrant was executed at 14422 Plank Rd. (Fun Smoke Shop) around 1:30 p.m., and was assisted by the BRAVE Unit and Baker PD.

This resulted in the seizure of approx. 403 packages of suspected synthetic marijuana, totaling about 1,019 grams, and $312.00.

Kimberly Brown, 32 of Plaquemine, and Sujitra Clark, 41 of Baton Rouge, were employees of the shop and were charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute (PWITD) Schedule I Synthetic Marijuana. Brown and Clark were later booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

The second search warrant was executed at 15959 Hewwood Ave. (Fun Time Novelties Smoke Shop) around 2:20 p.m. This resulted in the seizure of approximately 3,426 packages of suspected synthetic marijuana, packaging materials, and suspected active ingredients for making synthetic marijuana, totaling about $4,212.00.

Carl Bazile, 46, of Baton Rouge, and Angelica Clark, 20, of Baton Rouge, were employees of the shop and both were charged with PWITD Schedule I Synthetic Marijuana. Bazile and Clark were later booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Two customers of the Fun Time Novelties Smoke Shop, John Smith, 26, of Morgan City, and Blythe Martin, 22, of Baton Rouge, were arrested in the parking lot for possessing suspected alprazolam and oxycodone.

Smith was charged with Possession of Schedule II Oxycodone and Resisting an Officer.

Martin was charged with Possession of Schedule II Oxycodone, Possession of Schedule IV Alprazolalm and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Both Smith and Martin were also booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
