UPDATE: Arrest made for deadly I-110 shooting

THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: Walter Jerome Fort was taken into custody in Houston, Texas earlier today. He was arrested by on the campus of Texas Southern University by a TSU Police Officer after the officer received information that Fort was sitting on a bench at a bus stop.

Fort initially gave a false name but his identity was confirmed through fingerprints and he was booked into the Harris County Jail.

He will eventually be extradited back to Baton Rouge to be booked on the listed charges.

ORIGINAL STORY (03-03-12): Baton Rouge Police found one man shot on Interstate 110 early Saturday morning.

They said it happened around 2:45 a.m. Saturday morning.

BRPD says they were called out to a stalled vehicle north of the Chippewa exit on Interstate 110.

When the officers inspected the car, they found no driver, but one man shot to death sitting in the passenger seat.
