UPDATE: The Baton Rouge Police department has arrested James Earl Roberson, 34, of Alabama for the alleged armed robbery of the Regions bank on Jefferson Road earlier today. He is being booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for First-Degree Robbery.

We’re told Roberson is a fugitive and is wanted for warrants through Alabama for Flight to Avoid Prosecution and Escape.
 

UPDATE: The suspect involved in the bank robbery told the teller that he had a gun and demanded money. The suspect grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and was seen fleeing in a light blue colored Cadillac with a dark blue top.

The suspect is described as a black male, around 5’7”, mid 30’s, wearing a blue, white, and red striped pullover shirt and blue jeans.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Baton Rouge Police Department is currently working an armed robbery that happened at the Regions Bank located at 7777 Jefferson Highway. It happened shortly after 10:00 a.m.

Details are limited at this time. We know that police are currently on the scene investigating.

We’re told another robbery is happening a short distance away at another bank location. The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Department is working that case.

NBC33 News was originally informed that a second incident was occuring a short distance away. However, BRPD has clarified that the second incident was not a robbery but rather a confusion of address.
