UPDATE: 2 shot, 1 stabbed in French Quarter on Fat Tuesday

New Orleans, La (WDSU) — THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: New Orleans police said they are investigating two crimes on the outskirts of the French Quarter that happened during the height of Mardi Gras.
The first incident was a stabbing that happened Tuesday evening on Esplanade Avenue. Police have released few details in that case.
Police said the second incident was a shooting that happened about 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Iberville and Rampart streets.
Officers told WDSU two victims were shot in the leg and two juveniles were in custody after a brief foot chase.
The incidents are especially worrisome as thousands of people have packed the French Quarter for the Mardi Gras festivities.
A police spokesman said they are currently trying to gather information on both crimes.
ORIGINAL STORY: New Orleans police said they are at the scene of a shooting on the outskirts of the French Quarter.
The shooting happened about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday near the intersection of Iberville and Rampart streets.
Officers said the victim was shot in the leg and a suspect is in custody after a brief foot chase.
