WESTLAKE, LA — On March 30 at approximately 3:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched after receiving a report of two people, later identified as Robert F. Camacho, 26, and Georgette K. Nasr, 25, both of 137 Buttercup Way, Kyle, Texas, stealing over $1,200 worth of tools from a victim’s truck in a Westlake business parking lot.
While enroute, deputies were notified Nasr and Camacho had fled in a car and were currently driving westbound through Westlake at a high rate of speed. Moments later, the car lost control, running off the road and into a ditch at the intersection of Trousdale Road and Highway 90.
After abandoning the car, Nasr and Camacho fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. With the assistance of CPSO K9 “Neo” and his handler Cpl. Chad Collins, the scents of Nasr and Camacho were tracked through the woods and down the railroad tracks.
Deputy Grant Strenth and Deputy Jacob Wade located and arrested Camacho following a brief search of the wooded area, and Nasr surrendered at a convenience store on Highway 90.
Nasr and Camacho were arrested and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with simple burglary; theft $500-$1,500; and resisting an officer.
Judge Clayton Davis set Nasr’s bond at $6,500, and set Camacho’s bond at $17,000.
The miscellaneous tools have been recovered by deputies and returned to the victim.
Detective Sgt. Sconnie Granger with the Vehicle Crimes Unit is the lead investigator on this case.
