Two shot in confrontation with armed robber in Tigerland-area

Four people were confronted by an armed robber in the Tigerland area. Two were shot after they struggled with the suspect.

The Baton Rouge Police Department was called to a bar at roughly 1:00 a.m. We’re told the four victims were walking in the 700 block of East Boyd when they were confronted by a man who was armed with a gun. The suspect allegedly pointed the gun at a female in the group, and two of the males then wrestled with the suspect.

During the struggle the gun went off and struck both of the victims. We’re told they both sustained minor injuries to the hand.

The suspect managed to get away. He is described as a black male with a dark complexion, 5’8” tall, slim build, mid to early 20’s, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

The Baton Rouge Police Department tells NBC33 News that they do see an increase in theft and robbery cases during the holiday season.
