Two men busted with $50,000 worth of stolen property
HAMMOND, LA (NBC33) — Two men were caught with around $50,000 worth of stolen property in Tangipahoa Parish.
The Sheriff’s Department says Lee Burton, 26, and Roy Abrons, 38, both of Hammond, were arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 23 and charged with several counts of burglary. Both were also wanted for outstanding arrest warrants related to narcotics.
Officials say they caught Burton during a traffic stop on Wardline Road. At the same time, Abron was pulled over by the Hammond Police Department for an unrelated traffic stop. Both were taken into custody as they were wanted for questioning related to the burglaries.
Those robberies happened at homes spanning from Ponchatoula to St. Helena.
The Sheriff’s Office says they discovered 11 flat screen TV’s, 9 fire arms (one valued at $9,000), computers and lap tops, and $27,000 worth of jewelry.
Burton is being held in the St. Helena Parish Jail and Abron is currently housed in the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
Additional charges and arrests are believed to be forthcoming.
