TICKFAW, LA — Over a half-pound of marijuana was found in a car after a routine traffic stop in Tickfaw.
On October 24, officials initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near Hwy 1064 and Whiskey Ln. As deputies made contact with the driver, Jarod Douglas, 21, of Tickfaw, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was present, emanating from inside of the vehicle.
Douglas was also traveling with a passenger, Kendell T. Milton, 22, of Independence. At this time, both subjects were asked to exit the vehicle. Because of the strong odor of marijuana, the subjects were asked if there were any illegal narcotics in the vehicle. Douglas stated that there was a “blunt” in the ashtray. At this time, both subjects were taken into custody.
As a result of the search subsequent to arrest, deputies located a yellow bag rolled up and underneath the rear passenger seat. This bag contained several large bundles of a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana. An additional bag was located in the vehicle that contained suspected marijuana and a small black digital scale.
The two subjects were also in possession of a $550.00 of cash currency. Total grams of marijuana seized was 231.7 grams.
Both subjects were transported to the parish jail and charged with Possession With the Intent to Distribute CDS I and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
