Two men arrested for burglarizing cars

Two Ascension Parish men has been arrested after allegedly steal items, including a gun, out of several vehicles.

During the early morning hours od June 12, deputies went Leo Lambert Road in St. Amant in reference to two white males walking in the roadway acting suspicious.

When authorities arrived, one of the suspects was seen throwing a dark object into a ditch, which was later identified as a silver and black handgun.

Investigators learned that Tomas Jones and Jeremy Carter traveled along Highway 943 burglarizing vehicles and stole several items, including a silver and black Smith and Wesson handgun.

Both men admitted to stealing several items and all items were returned to homeowners.

Jones, of Prairieville, was charged with Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Possession of Stolen Property, and Burglary/Theft of a Vehicle.

Carter, of St. Amant, was charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Burglary/Theft of a Vehicle.

Both were booked in the Ascension Parish Jail.
