Overnight fires

Two separate fires kept Baton Rouge firefighters busy during the wee hours of August 4.

The first happened just before 3 a.m. at a storage area on Balis drive. Fire officials say large mats inside fueled the fire. The building has $500,000 in damage.

Then, about an hour later, a fire took place at Scroggin’s Transmission on the 1700 block of North Foster. NBC33 was told when firefighters got there, the shop area of the store was in flames. It took about twenty minutes to get the blaze under control.

No word on what sparked either fire.
