Two caught in connection to pharmacy bandit

THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: Two men were arrested on Thursday, June 23 for the possession of pills allegedly stolen from the Rite Aid Pharmacy on June 16, 2011. 

Donald Behrens, 36, of Baton Rouge is charged by EBRSO with Distribution of Schedule II Drugs, Distribution of Schedule III Drugs and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession and Distribution of Legend Drugs. Timothy Paul Williams, 39, of Denham Springs, LA is charged by LPSO with Possession of Schedule II. 

According to reports, Behrens and Williams took the pills from Beyl in order to hide them. They then took them to their residences where detectives recovered them. Detectives recovered hundreds of pills- Ritalin, morphine, oxycodone, opana, hydrocodone and oxycotin- at the residences. The pills have an estimated street value of more than $150,000. 


ORIGINAL STORY: East Baton Rouge Sheriff deputies, along with the U.S. Marshal's Task Force, apprehended a man yesterday evening for breaking into a pharmacy and stealing thousands of dollars worth of controlled narcotics.

Aaron J. Beyl, 30, is charged with Simple Burglary of a Pharmacy, Theft, and Simple Criminal Damage to Property.

According to reports, the Sheriff's office responded to a burglary yesterday morning of the Rite Aid located at 1029 Millerville Road. A burglar entered the store through unknown means. Once inside the perpetrator disabled the alarm system and surveillance system.

The suspect then made entry into the pharmacy and took controlled narcotics valued at approximately $21,000.

Detectives were able to obtain a fingerprint from materials left behind by the burglar. A Sheriff's deputy utilizing the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab was able to match the print with Beyl.

The U.S. Marshal's Task Force apprehended Beyl at his girlfriend's residence in Denham Springs with the assistance of the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office.
