 - ORIGINAL:  One man has been arrested and another is on the run in conjunction with the armed robbery of a Ponchatoula business.

On Sept. 27, detectives responded to an armed robbery at Alicia's Food Mart on Hwy 22 in Ponchatoula.  Two subjects entered the establishment wearing masks and gloves as they robbed the store.

One subject was armed and held the cashier at gun point, while the second subject emptied the cash registers. Through investigative measures, detectives identified Duane Bissell, 22, of Amite and Nelson Pierre, 26, of Ponchatoula as suspects.

Late last week, Bissell was arrested by Ponchatoula PD on unrelated charges. While in jail, he was interviewed and ultimately confessed to the crime. Bissell was charged with Armed Robbery.

He also implicated Pierre as his accomplice.  A warrant has also been issued for Pierre’s arrest.
