BOSIER CITY, LA (NBC33) — Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen says two men have been arrested for selling marijuana to law enforcement agents during an undercover narcotics operation over the weekend.
Joshua L. Byrd, 24, of Shreveport, and Ervin D. Rachal, 22, of Bossier City, were caught Friday, March 23 night selling ¼ pound of marijuana to undercover narcotics agents in Bossier City.
During Byrd’s arrest, deputies also recovered a large bag and a small bag of suspected marijuana on his person. They also found a clear bag with two smaller individually-packaged bags of suspected cocaine stuffed in his pants.
During a search of the vehicle driven by Rachal in which Byrd was a passenger, deputies recovered 30 methylphenidate (to treat ADHD) pills from the center console. Deputies also recovered an additional bag of suspected marijuana in Rachal’s room at a nearby motel in Bossier City after he told deputies he had marijuana there.
Byrd was charged with possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute, distribution of Schedule I (marijuana), possession of Schedule II (cocaine) with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II (methylphenidate), and two fugitive warrants; his bond is pending. The arrest was part of a six-month investigation on Byrd, and additional charges are pending.
Rachal was charged with possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute, distribution of Schedule I (marijuana) and possession of Schedule II (methylphenidate), and his bond is set at $50,000.
Both Byrd and Rachal have prior arrests for possession of marijuana. They were transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility for booking.
