Two arrested, five still at large in Hammond home invasion case
TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA — Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports that 2 suspects were arrested and 5 suspects still wanted for a home invasion which occurred on November 4 at a residence on Simpson Place in Hammond, LA.
Craig Smith, 23, of Amite, LA and Jovaughn “aka.VON” Jackson,17, of Hammond, LA are now behind bars for the violently beating a man in his residence, robbing him and then stealing his vehicle. Five other suspects are still at large.
On November 4, as a 71-year-old Hammond resident pulled into his driveway on Simpson Place, several unknown black male subjects grabbed the victim, drug him into his residence and beat him. One of the subjects held him hostage at gunpoint while the others ransacked his home, beat him, sprayed him with mace then fled the scene in his vehicle. The victim’s vehicle was later found burned on the side of the road on Mashon Rd. in Independence.
The above mentioned suspects were taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Battery, Armed Robbery and Automobile Theft.
Suspect still wanted for participation in this crime are:
Justin aka "J-Rock" Smith, 21, of Amite, LA
Tyrone aka "T.D." Smith, 21, of Amite, LA
Ira Williams, 20, of Loranger, LA
Alvin Fletcher, 20, of Ponchatoula, LA
Shermaine aka "Gator" or "Puddy" Smith, 27, of Independence, LA
All suspects are wanted on same charges. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
