Twenty firearms and electronics devices taken during recent rash of burglaries recovered

ST. MARTINVILLE, LA — St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office was able to recover approximately twenty firearms along with several electronic devices that were taken during five separate daytime burglaries in St. Martin Parish.
These burglaries that were reported the week of August 18 were in the Parks/Cypress Island Area in St. Martin Parish. All of the items observed in the photograph have been identified and Investigators are in process of releasing the items to their respective owners.
St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives say that these items were recovered during an operation in Lafayette last week.
Detectives with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office located numerous weapons at a residence some of which had been positively identified to be stolen out of St. Martin, Acadia and Vermillion Parishes.
Thanks to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, along with several surrounding law enforcement agencies, items will be able to be returned to the victims of these burglaries. The suspects responsible for these burglaries which occurred in four Parishes were arrested last week by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The investigations in to the daytime burglaries are ongoing and further charges may be filed. We encourage residents to report any suspicious activity that may be occurring in their neighborhoods.
