Three charged in Plaquemines Parish Water Department burglary

PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA — Three subjects were arrested for a Belle Chasse business burglary, of which one was an employee at the time.
On Friday, October 18, Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a business burglary at the Plaquemines Parish Water Department, located at 203 Main Street in Belle Chasse.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that sometime during the night someone entered the business and stole nearly $10,000 in checks, money orders, and cash from the safe and cash drawers. Deputies noted that there was no forced entry to the building.
Detectives developed Brianne Renee Richard, 24, of the 2600 block of Jupiter Street in Harvey, as a suspect. At the time of the incident, Richard was a Water Department employee for two years. Investigators were unable to locate Richard at her residence; however, her companion, Lashanda Trenise Walker, 31, of the 2800 block of Sullen Place in Algiers, agreed to accompany detectives to the Belle Chasse Criminal Investigations Bureau and assist with the investigation.
Upon confronting Walker with certain facts regarding the crime, she admitted to being involved in the burglary. Walker stated that Richard allegedly provided her with the combination to the safe and the keys to the business, as well as allowing her to borrowing her car. Walker further stated that she brought an associate identified as Shannon C. Brown, 22, of the 1900 block of Breckenridge Drive in Harvey, to the location to commit burglary, will she
acted as his lookout. During Walker’s interview, detectives noticed that she was attempting to conceal something in her pants. Investigators discovered Walker was hiding $435 in stolen money from the burglary. Walker related that she had divided the stolen money with Brown. Walker was booked at the Belle Chasse Lockup with simple burglary.
Walker has two prior convictions – one for unauthorized use of a moveable in Orleans Parish and one for possession of marijuana in Jefferson Parish.
Shortly after, Richard surrendered to detectives at the Belle Chasse Criminal Investigations Bureau. During questioning, she admitted to providing the business’s keys, combination to the safe, and her vehicle to Walker. Richard was booked at the Belle Chasse Lockup with simple burglary, as well as a probation violation. At the time of her arrest, Richard was on State probation for a 2012 Plaquemines Parish distribution of marijuana conviction.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Shannon Brown for simple burglary and on October 23, he was arrested in Jefferson Parish for the outstanding warrant. Brown was subsequently transported to the Belle Chasse Lockup where he was booked with simple burglary.
All three subjects remain in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office in lieu of the following bonds: Walker - $35,000; Richard - $25,000; and Brown $50,000.
