Three arsons in same area possibly linked
Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Three fires occurred overnight in the same area. The fires are suspected to be related, and all are being looked at as arsons.
First, Baton Rouge firefighters were called to an empty house on North 32nd Street. The front of the place was up in flames when they got on scene just before 3:30 a.m.
They were able to control the flames to the front of the house, causing just under $20,000 in damage.
While firefighters were still working to put the flames on this fire out, they got word of a duplex up in flames on 31st Street. That call came in just ten minutes after the first report came in, just one street over.
The duplex on 31st Street had similar conditions; the front of the duplex, along with the attic are destroyed.
This fire caused five people to need temporary shelter, which was provided by the local Red Cross.
Then, less than an hour later, a single family house on Terrace was up in flames.
Firefighters tell NBC33 the front of this house was also destroyed. Thankfully, the two people living inside were able to make it out without being hurt.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department says they're still working to see if all three arson fires are connected.
