The third suspect wanted for his alleged participation in a fight with two off-duty police officers has been arrested.

According to records, Mark Hinson was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 15. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a charge of Second-Degree Battery and Fugitive from Justice. His bond was set at $20,000 and he was released the following day.

Mark Hinson, 33, is the brother of James Hinson, 31, who is accused of instigating the fight with the two officers. James Hinson allegedly inappropriately grabbed a woman’s behind as he was exiting The Office Nightclub on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The arrest report notes that woman’s fiancé, an off-duty Baton Rouge Police Officer, told him to stop. The report claims Hinson elbowed the off-duty officer in the face, which started the brawl.

James Hinson is an amateur MMA fighter who has a long history of battery arrests. Due to the severity of his injuries, some witnesses questioned whether the off-duty officers involved in the fight should have faced charges as well. Officials reviewed video provided by witnesses and have found no reason for the officers to face any disciplinary or legal recourse.

"There's several videos out there that have been viewed throughout the course of the investigation and at this time there's no policies or laws that have been broken by these two off-duty officers," Cpl. Don Coppola, Baton Rouge Police Department, said.

The arrest report notes that at least one off-duty officer was knocked unconscious and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

James Hinson’s injuries prevented him from being able to flee the scene prior to police arrival. He was arrested and charged with Sexual Battery and Simple Battery. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. His bond was set at $25,000.

A couple days after the fight, police issued a warrant for the arrest of Matthew Cheramie, 25. He's accused of hitting the woman James Hinson is accused of inappropriately touching.

A warrant was also issued for the arrest of Mark Hinson. A witness provided a text message exchange between him and Mark Hinson where he stated that he “knocked out a cop.”

One of those 'Punks' is a decorated Marine sniper who's had one of his limps blown off while serving in Afghanistan. You have no idea of the facts of this case. No one has been sentenced to anything. Your leap to judgment shows nothing but the level of your character.

Sexual battery upon a woman? Punching a woman? Sucker punching a cop? These thugs don't belong on our streets.
