BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A Port Allen man was arrested for his third DWI after he crashed into a mailbox in Baton Rouge. A blood alcohol test revealed he was more than three times the legal limit to drive.
According to the arrest report, the Baton Rouge Police Department responded to the crash on Monday, June 17. The officer noted that the driver, Randy Brown, 26, smelled of alcohol when he arrived on scene.
After performing poorly during a field sobriety test, the officer placed Brown under arrest. A breath test showed his blood alcohol level to be at .308 percent.
Brown has two prior DWI arrests. The first was in February 2004 and the second was in January 2012. His license was suspended and he could not produce valid insurance, either.
Brown was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison shortly after 2:00 a.m. for DWI (third offense), Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License, Failure to Produce Insurance, and Failure to Maintain Control of a Motor Vehicle.
