Thibodaux police find couple with counterfeit printing material

Thibodaux police arrested two people after an anonymous tipster alerted the department that one of them tried to use counterfeit money.

Around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, February 10, someone alerted police that Joshua Hyatt, 23, tried using counterfeit money. Hyatt was staying at a Motel on Canal Boulevard with his girlfriend, Michelle Bourgeois, 19.

Hyatt tried getting away from Police when they arrived, but after a brief struggle he was detained.

Through investigation, Police learned that Hyatt had printed the counterfeit currency.

Detectives found printing materials, a firearm, and marijuana on the scene.

Hyatt was arrested for Monetary Instrument Abuse, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Resisting an Officer, and Possession of Marijuana. He is being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $3,500 bond.

Bourgeois was arrested for Possession of Marijuana. She is being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $1,000 bond.
