Frank McKenzie, 32, of Thibodaux, is now behind bars at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center for Simple Battery, three counts of Theft of Goods, and Theft.

The Thibodaux Police Department reports that around 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 15, McKenzie entered a convenient store in the 100 block of West 1st Street and snatched a Cerebral Palsy donation canister from the counter. The canister contained nearly $40.

A photo of the suspect was shared through the media and social media. A Crime Stoppers tip gave investigators the name of the suspect caught on camera.

Detectives connected McKenzie to three other theft cases that he committed in Thibodaux after stealing the Cerebral Palsy money. In one of those cases, he used physical force on an employee in order to escape with the stolen merchandise.
