Theft foiled; forgery suspect caught fleeing

THIBODAUX, LA — A forgery suspect was arrested after attempting to steal goods from a Thibodaux business.
Over the course of two months - February and March 2013 - Andrea Williams, 30, forged the victim’s name, who she knew very well, on nine checks that she had stolen from her; using them at various businesses in Thibodaux, and running up a bill totaling $915.56.
Around 11:10 a.m. on September 18, Williams fled a business in the 400 Block of North Canal Boulvard after her attempt to steal $135.53 in merchandise was foiled.
Williams, who was caught by Police near-by, lied about her name. Her real name was later confirmed after being arrested.
Williams was charged with Forgery, Theft of Goods, Resisting an Officer, and Failure to Appear on a DWI charge.
She is being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $5,300 bond.
