Teens arrested for several car burglaries in Ascension

Ascension Parish Chief Deputy Tony Bacala reports that the Sheriff’s Office has made several arrests related to vehicle burglaries that have occurred over the summer months.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 25, 2012, a homeowner on Savoy Road off of Highway 429 in St. Amant interrupted two suspects burglarizing his vehicle. The two suspects fled the scene but were spotted and taken into custody a short time later near the intersection of Dora and Beco Road in St. Amant. One suspect was identified as Brandon Jeane, 17, of St. Amant. The second suspect was a 15 year old juvenile from Laurel Ridge Road, also in St. Amant.

Investigators discovered that Jeane and the 15 year old were involved in a much larger burglary ring. After a third suspect, a 16 year old who lives in Gonzales, was taken into custody, it was learned that the three were responsible for additional vehicle burglaries throughout Ascension Parish.

Subsequently, three additional suspects would be identified as also being involved. They are 14 year old from Picou Road in St. Amant, 16 year old from Sam Martin Road in St. Amant, and a 15 year old from Riverside Estates in St. Amant.

Investigators worked well into the night Wednesday and into Thursday morning arresting the three additional juvenile burglary suspects along with identifying the burglary locations. During the ongoing investigation it was also discovered that they were responsible for damaging of a number of mailboxes on Babin and J. D. Broussard Road in Gonzales.

Brandon Jean, 17, of 13086 Cypress Gold Subdivision St. Amant, Louisiana was arrested and charged with on 9 counts of damage to property, 6 counts of simple burglary of a vehicle, 2 counts of misdemeanor theft, and 3 counts of criminal trespassing. He is currently incarcerated in the Ascension Parish jail with no bond set at this time.

The 15 year old from Laurel Ridge Road St. Amant, Louisiana is currently in St. James Detention Youth Center on 9 counts of damage to property, 6 counts of simple burglary of a vehicle, 2 counts of misdemeanor theft, and 3 counts of criminal trespassing. In 2007 he was previously arrested on charges of possession of schedule II CDS (aderall) and violation of a drug free zone. In March 2012 he was arrested for aggravated 2nd degree battery, aggravated damage to property, negligent injury, and curfew violation. He will remain in detention pending a 72 hour court hearing before a judge.

The 16 year old of Highway 621 Gonzales, Louisiana is currently in St. James Detention Youth Center on 9 counts of damage to property, 2 counts of simple burglary of a vehicle, one count of misdemeanor theft, and 2 counts of criminal trespassing. He was previously arrested in 2008 for simple burglary. He will remain in detention pending a 72 hour court hearing before a judge.

The 14 year old of Picou Road St. Amant, Louisiana is currently in St. James Detention Youth Center on 9 counts of damage to property, 2 counts of simple burglary of a vehicle, one count of misdemeanor theft, and 2 counts of criminal trespassing. He was previously arrested in 2011 for 7 counts of damage to property. He will remain in detention pending a 72 hour court hearing before a judge.

The 16 year old of Sam Martin Road St. Amant, Louisiana is currently in St. James Detention Youth Center on 9 counts of damage to property, 2 counts of simple burglary of a vehicle, one count of misdemeanor theft, and 2 counts of criminal trespassing. In June of 2012 he was arrested for criminal trespassing, simple burglary of a vehicle, and sale of tobacco under 18 years old, and curfew violation. He will remain in detention pending a 72 hour court hearing before a judge.

The 15 year old of Riverside Estates St. Amant, Louisiana is currently in St. James Detention Youth Center on 9 counts of damage to property, 6 counts of simple burglary of a vehicle, 2 counts of misdemeanor theft, and 3 counts of criminal trespassing. In March 2012 he was arrested for aggravated 2nd degree battery, aggravated damage to property, negligent injury, and curfew violation. He will remain in detention pending a 72 hour court hearing before a judge.
