Teens arrested for armed robbery during phony cell phone exchange

Two teens attempted to buy a cell phone, but instead they were robbed at gunpoint.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident happened at the 3600 block of Old Jeanerette Road on Thursday, Aug. 30 at roughly 10:00 p.m. When deputies arrived they talked with the victims, two 16 year olds, who said that they were robbed at gunpoint by two males.

The victims said they knew the suspects and were riding in a vehicle with them near Darnall Road in Iberia Parish. They said they were attempting to buy a cell phone from the suspects. The suspects, however, pulled the vehicle over and forced the two victims out of the car. One of the suspects pointed the gun at the teens.

The victims call their parents, who then called authorities.

Deputies located both of the suspects. Kareem Wilson, 18, and a 16 year old male were both arrested and taken to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office where they were questioned.

Wilson was charged with Principle to Armed Robbery and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile. The 16 year old was charged with Armed Robbery.
