It was just a year ago when an 8-year-old boy was attacked-- his throat slashed and left for dead on a biking trail. Now a Judge rules that the teen accused of hismuder is mentally competent to assist his defense during trial.
17-year-old Trevor Reese found 8-year-old Jackson Attuso biking on a trial at the Bluffs. The boy was separated from his family when he was attacked. West Feliciana Parish Deputies say after killing Attuso--Reese walked to a construction crew an told them he stabbed the 8-year-old simply because he was the first one there. A State District Judge made the ruling Monday after reviewing Reese's pyschiatric evaluations.
Reese's defense can still use insanity as a defense. Reese is sitting is prison right now-- and will be tried as an adult.
