Teen shot to death while walking home on Vickers; 5th homicide in as many days

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Baton Rouge Police Department has investigated five homicides as many days. The latest resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy.
The latest shooting happened at around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12. We’re told the victim, Cameron Phillips, was walking home in the 2000 block of Vickers when he was shot by an unknown gunman. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
That same day, police were called to North Sherwood Forest Blvd at around 11:00 a.m. They found the victim, Brandon Carter, 25, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Both shootings happened in the 70815 area code.
Prior to Wednesday’s shootings, there were three additional incidents that all resulted in a death. The first two occurred on Saturday, June 9, and the third was in the early morning on Monday, June 10.
All but one of the investigations are open with no motive or suspect.
