Tangipahoa Parish Deputies searching for fugitive with multiple outstanding warrants

Amite, La — Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards is asking for your assistance in locating William David Jenkins, 47, of Amite, LA.
Last night, deputies observed a subject riding on a bicycle southbound on Sycamore St at approximately 10:00 p.m.
Deputies made contact with the subject who identified himself as William Jenkins. While Jenkins appeared very nervous and he could not explain why he was in the area, deputies engaged in a roadside investigation.
While doing so, they located a metal pipe in his front pocket which contained suspected cocaine residue and a small envelope containing cash currently.
At this time, as deputies were attempting to detain Jenkins, he became violently aggressive and fled on foot into a near by wooded area.
It was learned at this time that Jenkins is wanted on numerous outstanding warrants, including felony drug charges. Currently, Jenkins is wanted on 10 active warrants including the charge of battery on a police officer.
