SWAT arrests Pierre Part man after 3 hour hostage standoff
PIERRE PART, LA (NBC33) — Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack reported, that 29-year-old David Hebert was arrested on January 28, after a three hour hostage standoff.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived at Hebert’s home in the 400 block of Shell Beach Road, around 6 p.m., after receiving a report of shots fired.
Waguespack said the SWAT team was activated, after deputies determined that Hebert was holding his girlfriend and 8-week-old baby, hostage.
Hebert reportedly shouted at approaching SWAT members to stay away.
SWAT members then negotiated with Hebert, over an undisclosed amount of time.
Finally, the SWAT team entered the home and secured the hostages, around 9 p.m.
Hebert briefly struggled with officers as they arrested him.
Deputies booked Hebert into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of Resisting an Officer and Illegal Use of Weapons.
The case is still under investigation by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.
