Suspect sought in Lafayette bank robbery

LAFAYETTE, La — Authorities are searching for a man that robbed a bank in Lafayette.
On April 15, at around 9:40 a.m., Lafayette Police received a call regarding an armed robbery that took place at at a bank in the 2900 block of Moss Street.
Bank employees told investigators that the suspect entered the bank through the front entrance wearing a mask and armed with a handgun. Once inside, the suspect shot the firearm one time in the lobby and then forced his way into the rear area of the building.
The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash and then stolen an employee’s vehicle, fleeing the area north on Moss Street. The vehicle was recovered a short time later in the 100 block of Comfort Lane.
There were no injuries during the robbery.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5’5” to 5’7” tall with dark hair and wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
