Suspect shot, killed by deputy in Livingston

THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: The suspect who was shot in Livingston this morning has been identified at Jonathon Clayton, 22, of Walker.

ORIGINAL STORY: A domestic dispute turned deadly this morning after a Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Deputy shot a suspect.

Detectives went out to investigate a call to a house on Corbin Road, and they say when they arrived, a man was armed. Believing the man to be dangerous, a deputy fired a shot at him, killing the man. Very little information has been given at this time regarding the circumstances of the original call.

"We feel that the deputy acted accordingly,” Jason Ard, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, said. “However, this is very early in the stage of this investigation and we'll make sure we do a very thorough investigation."

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office says the name of the victim as soon as his family is notified.
