A man, who evaded police custody, was caught just 12 hours after his escape.

Ryan O’Neal Boatner (27) escaped police custody from the Violent Crimes Unit’s Office around 2:00 pm on January 5.

According to Baton Rouge Police, officers with the K-9 unit apprehended Boatner, in a backyard, around 2:15 a.m. January 6, in the 8300 block of Green Moss Drive. Boatner was then transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries.

Police say they had originally arrested Boatner on January 5, after he robbed four people.

Investigators say Boatner and another suspect entered a home in the 4500 block of Charles Street. Boatner demanded their personal belongings at gunpoint, and then allegedly shot two of the victims.

One victim shot back, wounding the other suspect.

Boatner and his accomplice ran from the scene and got in to a get-away-car, driven by Warren Jackson (27).

Jackson drove Boatner and the other suspect to a local hospital, where all three suspects were later arrested by police. BRPD reports that the unnamed suspect is still in the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police say the victims received treatment at a local hospital for minor injuries.

Boatner will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged will four counts of Attempt 1st Degree Murder, Attempt Armed Robbery, and Criminal Damage to Property and Simple Escape.
