Louisiana State Police Troopers seized over three hundred pounds of marijuana and twelve kilos of cocaine. That all happened in West Baton Rouge Parish.

Troopers made the discoveries during two separate traffic stops, and made three arrests.

The first arrest happened during the afternoon on Saturday, Nov. 12. Troopers pulled over Christopher Streight, 50, of Hayesville, NC, on I-10 for a traffic violation. During the stop, Streight gave Troopers permission to search his vehicle, but told them to stop before the search was completed. That’s when they brought in a K-9 to complete the search.

Within the trunk was several bales of marijuana, totaling 333 pounds with an estimated street value of $333,000.

Streight was arrested and booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of Manufacture/Distribution of Schedule I Drugs, Improper Lane Use, and No Seat Belt.

The second arrest came during the early morning hours of November 18, when officers stopped Elsa Escobedo, 26, of San Antonio, TX, for a routine traffic stop on I-10 in West Baton Rouge Parish. While stopped, Escobedo gave Troopers consent to search the vehicle.

Troopers discovered twelve kilos of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $500,000, in two hidden compartments in the vehicle.

Escobedo was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of Manufacture/Distribution of Schedule II Drugs and Driving Left of Center.

Troopers also arrested the passenger in Escobedo’s car, Guadeloupe Iglesias, 36, and booked him on charges of Manufacture/Distribution of Schedule II Drugs. If convicted, both suspects face up to 30 years in prison.
