State Trooper Shot

The man responsible for shooting a state trooper is out of the hospital and behind bars.

William Belniak, 20, has been arrested for shooting Trooper Kevin Biddy after being pulled over in Port Allen.

Belniak is charged with Attempted First Degree Murder of a Police Officer among other charges.

-- Around 2:30am--- a DWI suspect opened fire at a Lousiana State Trooper in Port Allen. Trooper Russell Graham with State Police tells NBC 33 that a State Trooper pulled over a suspect for possibe intoxication. The suspect shot the trooper, luckily the bullet only grazed the Trooper's head. He was taken to Our Lady of the Lake and is expected to be okay. West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Deputies arrived on scene and shot the suspect multiple times. No names have been released at this time. The suspect was taken to Baton Rouge General.
